We publish what the rules actually say about electrical work across the Austin metro — sourced, dated, and specific to your permit office and your utility. The work itself is carried out by electricians licensed by the state.
Tell us what is happening and which city you are in, and we will connect you with an independent contractor licensed to do the work in your area.
How to reach us right now
Honestly: not easily, yet. Our tracked phone line is not connected and the form below is not accepting submissions. We would rather say so than publish a number that rings nowhere.
Both open shortly. In the meantime everything we publish is free to read, and the guides are written to be useful without talking to anybody.
If this is an emergency, do not wait for us. If you can smell burning, see scorch marks, or a faceplate is warm to the touch, switch that circuit off at the panel. If you can see smoke or sparks, leave the building and call 911.
By form
The form is not accepting submissions yet. It is shown here so you can see what will be asked, but it is deliberately disabled rather than quietly failing — a form that looks like it works and silently discards what you type is worse than one that admits it is not ready.
What happens after you get in touch
We match you with a contractor who works your city and your utility's territory — two separate questions in this metro, because service territory does not follow city limits. They contact you directly, quote their own work, and are responsible for it under their own licence.
Before anyone starts, ask for their TECL contractor licence number and check it yourself. State rules already require that number on their advertising, their vehicles and their written proposals, so asking for it should not be a surprise to anybody.
Corrections
If something we have published disagrees with the city, the state, the utility or the federal regulator, the authority is right and we are out of date. Tell us — corrections to sourced content are the most useful message we can receive.
