Terms of Service

We publish what the rules actually say about electrical work across the Austin metro — sourced, dated, and specific to your permit office and your utility. The work itself is carried out by electricians licensed by the state.

Last updated 12 August 2026. Short version: we publish information and make introductions. We do not carry out electrical work and are not responsible for work carried out by the contractors we introduce.

What this service is

austinelectricalcontractor.net publishes guidance on electrical rules in the Austin, Texas metropolitan area and introduces property owners to electrical contractors. We carry out no electrical work, hold no electrical licence, and do not supervise, inspect, price or warrant work carried out by others.

All electrical work we arrange is performed by independent third-party contractors licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Those contractors are not our employees, agents or partners. Your contract for the work is with them.

What that means if something goes wrong

The contractor is responsible for their own work, their own licensing and insurance, their own permits, and their own pricing. Disputes about the work, its cost or its quality are between you and them.

We do not vet, endorse, warrant or certify any contractor's competence. We expect contractors to hold current licences and expect you to verify that for yourself — every relevant page tells you how, because the state already requires the licence number to appear on their advertising, vehicles and written proposals.

Information published here

The guides on this site describe rules published by the authorities named and dated on each page. They are general information. They are not legal advice, not a permit determination, and not an engineering opinion for your property.

Rules change. The city's adopted electrical code edition changes on 1 September 2026, fee schedules and utility programmes change on their own cycles, and pages here are accurate as at the date shown on them and no later. Confirm anything that affects your project with the office or utility that actually serves your address.

No page here should be used as a substitute for an inspection of your property by someone qualified to carry one out.

Safety

Nothing we publish is an instruction to perform electrical work. Pages describing symptoms and hazards exist to help you decide when to stop using a circuit and who to call — not to guide a repair.

Commercial relationship

Contractors pay us for introductions. That is stated on the about page as well as here, because it should inform how you read the rest of the site.

Changes

These terms may be updated. The date at the top reflects the current version. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas.
